Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton this Saturday was eliminated in Q1 at the Saudi Arabia Jeddah circuit. Hamilton finshing qualifying P16 as Aston Martin's Lance Stroll improved at his expense – sending the Mercedes driver out of qualifying while his team mate George Russell managed to make it into Q3 and eventually clinch sixth on the grid.
Now Hamilton, who took pole and won here in the 2021, will start three rows from the back of the grid as he attempts to rescue a result for the Silver Arrows – for whom he salvaged a podium in last weekend's Bahrain GP.
Last time the 103-time pole-sitter was eliminated in Q1 was at the 2017 Brazil Grand Prix, when he crashed in Q1 and did not finsh a qualifying lap. But judging on pure pace the world champion was last eliminated in Q1 back in the 2009 British Grand Prix when he was racing in the McLaren car.
